A friend of mine, an author I really admire, published her first book this week. Contemporary romantic suspense. Escape. And I'm so grateful she did.
In a time when markets are crashing, businesses closing their doors, friends being sent home with no certainty of income, writing about love can feel frivolous. I've had a few moments when writing fluffy romance didn't feel important enough to spend my time on.
But the truth is, when I get into bed after the hardest days, I need to escape into a book more than ever. So I'm going to keep writing. And I hope one day to be part of the incredible community of writers who make people smile after dark days.
